S3 presets
The presets below make it easier to set up accounts in S3Client. They preconfigure some connection settings and supported features, such as versioning or object tags. They contain no access credentials.
Choose the preset that matches your provider and storage plan, or the version of your self-hosted server. Copy the JSON file’s link or download it, then import it into S3Client.

| Storage providers | Offering / access mode | File |
|---|---|---|
| Amazon S3 | - | Built-in |
| Backblaze B2 In Account, set Default region to the region shown in your bucket’s S3 endpoint. Use an application key created in Backblaze, not the master key: enter keyID as Access Key ID and applicationKey as Secret Access Key. Versioning is always enabled; objects and their versions inherit the bucket’s ACL and cannot have separate ACLs. | S3-compatible API | |
| Google Cloud Storage (Fine-grained access) Bucket ACLs are read-only; object ACL changes support canned ACLs only. Storage class changes on the same key are disabled. | XML API / Fine-grained | |
| Google Cloud Storage (Uniform access) ACL operations are disabled for buckets with uniform IAM access. Storage class changes on the same key are disabled. | XML API / Uniform |
| Self-hosted solutions | Version / edition | File |
|---|---|---|
| Apache Ozone Multipart copies do not verify the source ETag. Avoid upload compression: automatic decompression on download is unavailable. | 2.2.1 | |
| Ceph RGW This file enables SSE-S3, SSE-KMS and website APIs. Under Account > Capabilities, disable any capabilities your server does not support. Under Account > Regions, replace the example endpoint with your S3 server’s endpoint. | 20.2.4 | |
| MinIO AIStor Free Free license. Under Account > Regions, replace the example endpoint with your S3 server’s endpoint. | RELEASE.2026-09-19T17-05-25Z | |
| OpenStack Swift (s3api) This file enables S3 ACLs, multipart transfers, versioning and SSE-S3. Under Account > Capabilities, disable any capabilities your server does not support. Under Account > Regions, replace the example endpoint with your S3 server’s endpoint. | Swift 2.38.2 | |
| RustFS This preset enables versioning, multipart transfers, SSE-S3/SSE-KMS encryption, tags, lifecycle rules and Object Lock. Under Account > Regions, enter your server’s endpoint and region. Under Account, set the HTTPS port to match your server. | 1.0.1 | |
| Scality CloudServer This profile enables versioning, Object Lock, ACLs, SSE-S3 and SSE-KMS. Under Account > Regions, enter your server’s endpoint and region. Under Account, set Port and Connect using SSL/TLS to match your server. If you use HTTP or your server has no KMS configured, disable SSE-KMS under Account > Capabilities. | 9.4.7 | |
| SeaweedFS Open-source edition. Versioning is disabled: a sorting bug in SeaweedFS 4.48 can prevent S3Client from listing some folders in buckets where versioning has been enabled. Object Lock is also disabled because it requires versioning. SSE-KMS is enabled in this profile. If your server has no KMS configured, disable SSE-KMS under Account > Capabilities. Under Account > Regions, replace the example endpoint with your server’s endpoint. | 4.48 | |
| VersityGW Open-source edition, POSIX backend. Versioning and Object Lock are disabled in this profile. Under Account > Regions, enter your server’s endpoint and region. Under Account, set Port and Connect using SSL/TLS to match your server. | 1.8.0 / POSIX |
How do I import a provider preset?
- Click Copy link for the file that matches your provider or self-hosted solution and the relevant server version or storage offering.
- In S3Client, open File > Accounts…, then click Manage accounts > Providers… and Import preset….
- In Import provider preset, select URL, paste the link, and click Load. If you downloaded the file, leave File selected and choose it with Browse….
- Check the loaded preset, then click Install provider, or Replace provider if it is already installed.
- Back in Accounts, click New…. In New account, select the preset under Provider, then click OK.
- In Account, enter your credentials and adjust the connection settings for your server. Click Test connection, then OK to save the account.
How do I create a provider preset?
A provider preset captures an account’s connection settings and capabilities without its access credentials. Save it in S3Client first, then export a JSON file if you want to share it.
- Under File > Accounts…, create or edit an account for your service.
- Under Account > Capabilities, enable or disable capabilities to match the features your server supports. Click OK to save the account.
- In Accounts, select that account and click More > Save as provider preset….
- In Save account as provider preset, choose Create a new preset, enter a Preset name, and click Create preset. To replace an installed custom preset, choose Update an installed preset, select it under Installed preset, and click Update preset.
- In Accounts, open Manage accounts > Providers…, select the Custom preset, and click Export selected preset…. Choose the
.s3client.jsonfile to create.
The preset remains installed in S3Client, and the exported file is ready to share. It contains no access credentials.
You can also ask an AI to create an initial JSON file using the format specification and the provider’s documentation. Import it through Accounts > Manage accounts > Providers… > Import preset…, then create an account from the installed preset. Review the settings in Account, including Capabilities. Save the account with More > Save as provider preset…, then export that preset from Providers if you want to share the result.
