Monitor and cancel operations
Transfers appear in the operations list below the navigation panes. A top-level operation can contain file or folder suboperations. Expand its row to inspect visible items; detailed technical requests are available in the log when logging was enabled.
Understand progress
| Column | Information |
|---|---|
Operation | Operation type or name and state icon. |
Source | Source location. |
Target | Destination. |
Transfer | Bytes processed and known total, with a progress bar during transfer. |
Progress | Item progress or an operation-specific phase. |
Hover over a row to see complete paths, its report or state. Pending is waiting, Running is active, Finished has ended, and Aborted was interrupted. A finished operation can contain errors; its state alone does not confirm a complete copy. Folder totals become clearer during preparation, and a skipped file can count toward progress without being transferred.
For an S3 deletion, Progress shows confirmed deletions out of known targets. A + after the total means target discovery is still in progress. For cleanup with options, the total counts objects selected during traversal, rather than all objects examined, so it may still increase. Cancellation of incomplete multipart uploads shows a separate count of canceled uploads.
Synchronization distinguishes its write phase from Synchronization: mirror deletions, which covers deletions in Mirror mode. Its report lists completed writes, kept files, deleted entries, failures, conflicts, unknown results and source exclusions. It also indicates whether deletions were disabled.
Inspect errors and details
- Select one row with an error, or expand the top-level operation to select the affected file.
- Click
Show error messagein the toolbar or context menu. It is available when the row has an error. - Read the message and code before retrying. For
AccessDenied, check the permissions for the action that was refused: reading, writing, tags, ACLs or KMS. - Once the operation has finished or been aborted, select its row and choose
Show details. The command is available for a single finished or aborted row with a log, error or report. - In
Operation details, read the text and the report, when present.FontandSizeaffect display only. - Click
Save..., choose a text file and confirmSaveto export the displayed log. Close withClose.
The details text is exported as UTF-8. The separate report shown above it is not included; copy it separately if needed.
To capture HTTP requests, configure logging before reproducing the issue in Tools > Options... > HTTP Logging. See preferences and troubleshooting. Enabling logging after an operation does not recreate earlier requests. Review addresses, headers and other log information before sharing it.
Interrupt an operation
Abort requests a stop. Replacements, copies and deletions already completed remain in effect. Stopping can take some time while active work stops and its cleanup finishes.
- Select one or more top-level
PendingorRunningoperations. - Click
Abortin the toolbar or context menu. - Wait for the final state and inspect errors or the report.
- Check both locations before continuing the transfer.
The command is disabled for a suboperation, an ended operation or one already requested to stop. This interface does not provide a pause with persistent resume.
For multipart transfers, S3Client attempts to clean up the unfinished upload. Failed cleanup can leave parts on the service; see cleanup if needed.
Remove entries
Select the top-level operations to remove, then choose Remove from their context menu. Every selected row must be eligible for removal. To remove all finished or aborted operations, click Clear in the toolbar.
Remove removes a top-level operation that is pending, finished or aborted. A pending operation is interrupted before its row is removed. The command is unavailable for a running operation or suboperation.
Clear removes finished and aborted operations while keeping pending and running ones. These commands remove entries and their retained details, not transferred files. Export any useful log first.
Check partial results
After failure or interruption, use Refresh in the panes and inspect source and destination files. A successful copy followed by denied source deletion leaves both copies. A multi-item selection can produce partial results.
For synchronization, check failure and unknown-result counts, and whether deletions were enabled. An unknown result requires inspection of the service; it means neither confirmed success nor confirmed lack of changes. Versions, delete markers and incomplete multipart uploads may need separate checks.
