Manage objects and their properties
The S3 pane commands and Properties let you inspect and modify objects. First identify the target: the current object with Show versions off, or a specific version with it on.
| Guide | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Properties and folders | Read identifiers, create a folder and calculate its size. |
| Metadata and tags | Edit headers and tags, taking account of the copies required for metadata changes. |
| Versions and deletion | Recover content and distinguish deleting a key, a version and a delete marker. |
| Storage classes and archives | Change the current object’s storage class or make archived content readable. |
| Addresses and links | Copy an identifier or prepare a presigned URL, including for SSE-C objects. |
Changing metadata or storage class rewrites the object. Tags, ACLs and protections can target a version when the feature and permissions allow it. See data protection.
To apply changes to objects in a folder and its subfolders, use bulk operations. Display filters do not limit the objects processed: use the operation’s selection criteria.
