Configure accounts and access
An S3Client account is a local configuration connecting your credentials to an S3 service. The provider supplies initial values; the saved account settings then determine its connection and features. They do not create an account with the provider or replace permissions granted on the service.
For your first connection, start with Add and manage accounts, then check the credential source and service settings. The following guides cover each setting and transfers between installations.
- Add and manage accounts
- Choose a credential source: stored keys, AWS profiles, the credential chain, and external sessions.
- Protect stored credentials: master passwords, unlocking, and resetting secrets.
- Configure regions and S3 connections: endpoints, signing, addressing, bucket connections, and S3 Control.
- Configure account capabilities: supported features and accepted options for each bucket, region, or endpoint.
- Import and export accounts: back up settings and transfer accounts with or without secrets.
- Manage provider presets: install, share, and apply service settings to new or existing accounts.
